I have the usual difficult to negotiate curly hair and Shanna gave me a cut I love and it honestly changed my relationship w/my hair. I was in a total boring rut before I saw her. I live in San Marcos, but the drive is worth it to let her work with my hair. I'm writing this a bit after the cut has grown out and it still looks great. My hair feels/looks so much better now! 12/22/2008

After several rounds of blonde highlights, my hair was dry and the color was blah. Shanna helped me go back to a more flattering color for my skin tone and gave me a cut that not only got rid of the unhealthy hair but that also framed my face nicely. I've gotten several compliments on the cut and color..and it's only been three days since my appointment. From the first contact with Shanna I knew I FINALLY found someone that understood the color of hair I was talking about. I walked in to her private salon room and immediately she asked if she could tell me what she thought she would do to my hair. She was spot on and after we were finished with my hair - I was so impressed that I had the exact color I was looking for and an updated haircut that was perfect for my face structure. I was asked by my coworkers what I did to make myself look so much younger and what I was doing to make my skin look healthier as well. I owe it all to Shanna! Looking for a complete makeover??? 12/14/2008

If your like me and you have ever wanted to have someone tell you what kind of cut and color would be perfect on you than I highly recomend Shanna. When I walked in I had blonde shoulder length wavy hair. She told me what she recomended and we went for it. I walked out with a mid lenght, layered bob and side swept bangs. She brought my color back closer to my natural color and now it is a reddish brown. I always thought I would look way to pale with that color, but she was right, it brought out the color in my cheeks.

Wow! Best extensions, personal service, a perfectionist! 12/05/2008

I live in Houston, had extensions done here by one of Houston's best, but was not pleased with the results....not enough hair on the sides, not a good cut, and the color work left a lot to be desired. While visiting in Austin, a friend recommended Shanna, so I made an appointment for a color correction and blowdry. I expressed to Shanna my disappointment with my extensions and my hair in general and she immediately analyzed the problem and made suggestions.

When it was time to re-do the extensions, I drove to Austin (even though I had had several consultations with Houston stylists, I felt that Shanna had the talent and experience to do the best job) and put myself in Shanna's capable hands.

MAGIC! My extensions are now exactly as I had hoped they would be....thick, full and shiny with a beautiful cut and fabulous color. Her color technique is unusual and gives a very natural look to my dark brown hair, with very slight variations of color.

Shanna is a rare breed of stylist - smart, talented, funny, and she truly cares about the finished product and your satisfaction.

What a RELIEF!! 11/22/2008

I just moved to Austin from the Seattle area, where I've had the same stylist for years. So moving to Austin meant finding someone who I could trust with my very fine, blonde, long, colored hair, and what a RELIEF that I found Shanna! Shanna took my boy short crop and turned it into a luxurious mane! Not only did she add seamless, amazing extensions with ease and tremendous skill, she colored my new locks and blended them perfectly. Fantastic Hair Cut & Color! 11/07/2008

Having recently moved to Austin from New York City, I knew it would be a challenge for me to find a hair stylist who knows how to cut curly hair correctly. My first two experiences with hair stylists in Austin were horrible. After getting my hair colored at one salon, I actually returned home to discover my roots hadn't been fully covered! Thank God I found Shanna Arciniaga at Grapevine Salons. I placed my faith in her to not only cut and color my hair, but to cut my very long hair to a medium hair cut with lots of layers. It came out just the way I envisioned it. I also took Shanna's recommendation as to which hair color I should switch to. I can't believe how soft my hair feels. When I got my hair colored in the past at other salons, my hair felt so dry for almost a month. But Shanna used high quality, professional products that left my hair feeling so silky. And there was no pressure to buy products. For the high quality hair cut and color that I received, the price was very reasonable. I feel like a new person with my hair. I LOVE IT!!! I've been seeing Shanna for over 2 years now -- and I've been somewhat of a hair stylist/colorist-commitment phobe previously. She listens to what you envision, but also helps guide you in new and flattering directions. Shanna does an excellent job with my color and of course she was the one I turned to for my wedding for hair AND make-up -- she did a wonderful job on me, my bridal party and my mother. Everyone kept saying we all looked so beautiful and I even had my girls in a bright coral!!

Best Haircut with a great a conversation 10/15/2008

I went to get my haircut this weekend by the recommendation of a co-worker. I just moved to Austin and I left behind a great hairdresser. I have super fine hair that has seen some terrible haircuts over the years.....but not to worry Shanna gave me the best haircut I've ever had. I love it! SHANNA IS AMAZING!!! I am very very picky and I was terrified to get my hair done in austin. I have gone to the same person in houston for 13 years for cuts and highlights, but I could not drive home anymore for a haircut. I started researching places on here, and found shanna. I called and made an appointment, and I thought about canceling it for hours before. Amazing Hair Extensions in Austin! 09/01/2008

After chopping my hair off after a horrible going blonde experience i finally had grown all of my natural hair to about shoulder length but it was taking forever!! I was tired of processing it with hair dyes & wanted my natural hair to be long and full like it is in the movies. I had been doing about a year of research trying to find someone who knew what they were doing when it came to hair extensions! When it comes to putting trust into other people regarding my appearance i am VERY PICKY! I must be 100% comfortable with the person and they must have a clear understanding of exactly what i want! I searched all over looking for a person with the credentials and experience that could fulfill my dream, though the only places i found were either in dallas or houston :( UNTIL, i came across Shanna at Catena's hair studio. I went in for a consultation and all of my questions were answered on the spot. I left feeling confident and comfortable with my decision. After she applied the hair extensions and cut them to match my hair it was it was perfect! I left feeling like a movie star! In public people are always stopping to ask me what i use on my hair to make it look so good & healthy. I tell them they're hair extensions and they can't believe it because everything looks so real! I saw that Shanna was highly recommended (after reading reviews) and decided to try her out because of her curly hair expertise. I was being really picky about my cut and I've had many disasters before with my mass of curls. She did AWESOME! For the first time ever my husband actually noticed that I got a haircut and said I look adorable. I told her exactly what I wanted and she did exactly that. It's hard to find someone that actually listens but she will! She put some really good products in my hair and made good and sure I was satisfied before I left. She's really friendly which is a big plus and I would recommend her to anyone. I won't go anywhere else! For the first time I'm actually glad I have curly hair. I am so glad I found Shanna - she has been nothing but amazing since my first appointment back in February 2008. I came to her after a way-too-short style that just wasn't me. I knew nothing about extensions and she was more than happy to give me a quick lesson and consultation free of charge. So, the next thing I knew I was in her chair getting long hair!! I was honestly really nervous at first, but she made the process very comfortable and easy....and I absolutely love them! The color is just perfect for me and the look and feel is so natural!! I am on my second set now and am amazed how they have changed the way I feel about myself and my confidence level. I have a long straight hair and wanted to have some body for my hair (wavy curl look) but a little nervous because I had my hair permed before with someone else and it was a disaster. I'm one happy camper :) I don't write reviews, too busy. But I HAD to hand it to Shanna, she transformed my so so shoulder length tresses into a Hannah Montana super star style!. I've had hair extensions before from someone else but they never looked like this before! She used three different colors (dark around the nape and highlighted pieces on top, strategically placed etc...) so it looks soooooo natural. My husband is a critic when I used to get extensions he didn't really want me to do it but when I came home and he saw my hair his eyes lit up, so has my spirits since I've had this awesome new long hair!!!! Shanna really knows what she is doing. I found her to be extremely professional and driven. She obviously loves what she does for a living and her talent was exceeded only be her strong desire to surpass my expectations. Her techniques were so cutting edge, few stylist are up on. I highly recommend her to anyone considering extensions. She was not pushy when I was back and forth trying to decide if I should get them. The "therapy" she gave was worth the price of admission and her warm personality led me to confide in her things I ordinarily would not to someone I had only recently met. After chopping off my hair and being miserable, I looked into extensions and kept finding Shanna's name. She called me back within about 10 minutes of my email to her and was so informative of the process. She was able to work me in quickly before my vacation and for the first time ever, I LOVE MY HAIR! Shanna's Totally Awesome Extensions Adventure 06/02/2008

I've never had the type of hair that grew past my collarbone without looking thin, ratty and sad. With summer (and a trip to Paris) approaching, I got the proverbial, and some might say literal, "wild hair" . Nothing will secure a better time in Paris than long mane of fabulous hair, sunglasses the size of windshield, lip gloss.. and perhaps a fake name. I worked this "City Search" site to the bone. And the name that came up again and again was Shanna Arciniaga. Her reviews were timely and up to date, covered the gamut of color, cut and for me most importantly: extensions. Unlike most stylists in Austin she's trained and is certified by only the very top of the line products. I knew by reading the reviews she didn't simply dabble in extensions. She was the real deal. Shanna graciously invited me to come in after work and talk to her about the process, examine the product and share ideas about length and style. I was under a time constraint - Paris is two weeks away! Even though this was very my first appointment with her, Shanna came to the salon on a Sunday to do my extensions so I could have them for my trip. It was painless, quick (under 3 hours!! Seriously!) and the color is flawless! I'm completely blown away by how natural and soft it is. Can I say it again? The color is really stunning. It's totally my hair only sooo much better! I wanted to share my wonderful experience with Shanna. I recently had a terrible hair color experience with another salon, that left me with very overhighlighted and dried out hair. I was desperate for help! I researched colorists on citysearch in an effort to find someone to repair my hair and found Shanna. I called her this morning to schedule an appointment. She returned my call within 10 minutes and was very friendly on the phone. She rearranged her day so that she could fit me in today, and I would not have to wait over a week for her next appointment. Once I met Shanna at the salon, I was comfortable with her immediately, and confident in her abilities after talking with her about the plan for my hair. She brought my hair back to a much more natural color with a few subtle highlights (exactly what I wanted!). The color looks beautiful and I couldn't be happier! Shanna is a true professional and really strives to make her customers happy and provides outstanding customer service. I would very highly recommend Shanna- besides doing an excellent job on my hair, it was a delight to spend a few hours with her. Great Hairdresser Who Listens 05/22/2008

I've been going to Shanna for about three years and she is very professional, highly-organized and fun to talk to. Shanna's greatest asset is that she listens to what the customer wants. If I want to grow out my hair some...she will only give it a lite trim. I have thick, naturally curly hair and have often found it difficult to find someone who knows how to cut it. I was really happy when a friend recommended Shanna to me because knows how to shape and cut curly hair. I enjoy going to Catena's and getting my haircut. It is really hard to find a good stylist who can cut naturally curly hair correctly and it was such a blessing to find Shanna. She gave me a great cut and fixed the butcher job that my previous stylist had given me. She consulted me on the color I want to do and I am really looking forward to having her color my hair. Best color of my whole life 05/05/2008

When I first came to Shanna two years ago, my hair was overbleached and completely unhealthy. In addition, my hair had been turned PINK on numerous occasions by my previous hairdresser in attempts to get back to a more natural color. On my very first visit, Shanna corrected the color perfectly and took me back to my own natural blonde. The cut was fantastic. Now my hair is naturally long, healthy, full, and fabulous. I get compliments weekly on how great it looks. And I love to run my fingers through it -- it just feels so good. Shanna also makes realistic recommendations and is not all about upselling. Before Shanna, I have never had a stylist tell me that my hair doesn't need color yet!! But on one visit, Shanna and I looked at it, and she said it looked fine and that she would just wait until the next visit. She is honest with me about what we should and should not do with my hair -- and she is always right. I always feel like Shanna is paying attention to me and my hair, and never distracted (as other stylists often are). Every visit we actually talk about my hair and what exactly we are going to do with it before we get started. She never just assumes that we are going to do the same old thing. Best Extensions, Color and Cut - "Sheer" Genius 04/29/2008

What can I say when I came to Shanna 2 years ago my hair was to my chin and a mess. Shanna gave me long beautiful hair in one fell swoop. When I tell people I have extensions they are in awe. Then shanna took me from a blonde to the MOST BEAUTIFUL shade of red. WOW I love being a redhead. I am now a full blown hair extension junky! Even when my hair finally grows out as long as my extensions are (which is almost to my waist!) I will always have them for volume. I have spent my whole life wanting beautiful hair and I have it thanks to Shanna. I have never had a hairdresser (and I have been to MANY) takes as much pride and care in their work as Shanna does. I always feel relaxed and at ease in her chair....not to mention she always keeps me laughing. She's easy to talk to and I always feel she listens to my needs as well. Shanna came highly…no…VERY highly recommended by several of my friends, and after seeing the amazing job she did for the bride and bridal party at a wedding I recently attended, I knew I wanted a turn in her chair. I knew going there that she was good...but I was still amazed at just how much I loved my new cut. She knew just how to cut it, style it and what products to use to give it the exact look I wanted. She even took the time to show me how to style it myself at home using the hair dryer and round brush. Awesome Stylist and a True Artist. I have been in Austin for 2 years and have not been able to find a great stylist - that is until now! I had terrible experiences with my color and ugly extensions to the point I recently had to cut my hair really short and start over. Shanna is a dream come true. My hair was maybe 4 inches in length on the top and less than that on the neckline. I wanted long beautiful hair again and so I called Shanna for a consultation. I got tired of my very short hair and had the questionable idea about getting extensions. I looked online and found Shanna, and gave her a call. She was warm and friendly right away, took her time answering my questions and after meeting her for the consultation, I felt even more positive about it. The salon itself was homey, cozy and comfortable, and the other stylists were friendly as well. Shanna did my extensions, cut and color, and I am very happy. It's been a week and I have had sooo many positive comments about how natural looking, nice, and pretty it is. I am very happy to have found a salon where I feel welcome and not like just another customer-that is such a huge part the whole experience for me. Best hairstylist!! 03/06/2008

Shanna did such a wonderful job to my hair. Icame in skeptical but she gave me a fabulous haircut and color. I've never felt so comfortable with a hairstylist than I did with her. She will work with you and provide her opinions on what would look best for you but at the same time, she takes into account what you would like done to your hair. She's also very sweet!!! GO TO HER. Great cut and color 02/18/2008

I just started going to Shanna a few months ago and I could not be happier with my cut and color. I love the color that she has created for me. It is a lot like my natural color before I started getting gray hair on top. I don't have to do much to my hair after I wash it because the cut fits my hair and lifestyle. She is an amazing lady! She works with you, listen to you and knows your hair and what you need as well. I haven't had my hair done from a salon since 1996. I always do the coloring. But when I went there she saw the picture of the lady's hair color I want from a magazine and she gets to work and she talks to you of what she is going to be doing next and what you need to do with your hair. She is fast, positive person and phenomenal! She made me a new woman that day and I had so many compliments on how beautiful my hair looks! Thank you, thank you, thank you Shanna! Great Colorist 01/23/2008

I was really unhappy with my first-time color (highlights) but Shanna brought my hair back to its original color-and it was so shiny and healthy-looking! She trimmed my layers up without taking too much off my curls, and made sure I liked the color when it was dry-letting me know we could tweak it if needed.
